Skin Yard is the self-titled debut album of the American grunge band, Skin Yard. It was originally released on Daniel House's C/Z Records, and is the only album of Skin Yard to feature drummer Matt Cameron as a full-time drummer. 1400 copies were released on translucent vinyl colored like skin (possibly to represent the name).

It was released on January of 1987. In 1990, C/Z Records reissued the album with new tracks. "Burning the Candle" was left off of reissues and is now considered lost. However, in January 2014, Ben McMillan's official Facebook page played a poor-quality video of what's possibly the lost track. The reissue also has some alternate versions of tracks, including a 5 minute version of "Skins in My Closet." The reissue also carries two tracks with Jason Finn as a drummer instead of Matt Cameron. It also includes a live cover of David Bowie's "She Shook Me Cold."

The album saw another reissue on Cruz Records with only ten tracks. A reissue has not seen light since 1992.

Reception Edit

The album has met with mixed reception. Music review website Allmusic gives the album 2.5/5 stars.
