Grungegaze is a vague genre that is often interpreted as a subgenre of grunge/alternative rock that often mixes grunge with the "dreamy" sound of the shoegaze genre. Grungegaze is a relatively obscure genre label though with bands blurring the lines stylistically between different genres more and more, bands like Autolux, WAVVES, Animal Holograms and Supercrush certainly fit under the umbrella of this genre label. Grungegaze tends to have a slightly darker feel than regular shoegaze. The description is often vage since some bands who label themselves as grungegaze mix alternative rock, post-punk, psych-rock, neo-psychedelia and dream pop into the music.
