Coffin Break are a hardcore punk/grunge band from Seattle, Washington. They are one of the bands that singed onto a small label but gained enough attention to be signed to a major label. They were not an important band from the grunge era, but they lasted longer than most of the unknown grunge bands.

History[]

Coffin Break was formed by David Brooks, who was the drummer, Peter Litwin, who was the guitarist and one of the singers, and the singer.bassist Rob Skinner. When Coffin Break formed in 1988, they singed to the independent Seattle label C/Z Records. Although they later signed to a major label, C/Z gave them more support. On C/Z, they released two studio albums, Psychosis and Rupture. The two were later released on a rare compilation pack called Rupture/Psychosis. They had gained popularity in Seattle, and were signed to a major label, Epitaph. With Epitaph, they released their two more well known albums, Crawl and Thirteen. Before recording the album Thirteen, they recruited a second drummer, Jeff Lorien. The band broke up in 1993.
